Bring your order form. All
photo packages should be picked up at Celebrity Kids.
Premiere
Dance Company will not be distributing photos.
Tickets
(if available) will be sold at the door for $1.00 more than the regular price. VolunteerS—we need back stage volunteers for dress rehearsal and both shows!
We can not run the show without you!
Please see the attached form and volunteer to help.
You will be able to watch your child during their performance, or you can
volunteer to help in the opposite show. We
thank you in advance for making the recital possible! Photos of Costumes and Hair and Make-up instructions can be found on the
website Please go over the hair
and make up instructions and photo tutorial.
It is very important that your dancer follows the guidelines for hair and
stage make-up—your child is part of a team! Dress Rehearsal: Friday, June 1, 4:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Homestead High School. Enter through door #4 (Auditorium/Gymnasium) off the south parking lot. Performers in the 2:00p show should arrive by 4:15p. Performers in the 6:00p show should arrive by 6:15p. All dancers should arrive in complete costume, hair and make-up. Children will sit in assigned seating in the auditorium with one parent volunteer (per class) while waiting to perform. Dancers under the age of 10 are allowed to have one parent stay with them during rehearsal. No other family members should attend. Only the class volunteer for students ages 3-8 will sit with the class, all other parents will sit in the back half of the auditorium. We ask that parents and dancers remain as quiet as possible while waiting for their turn to practice. We will begin both rehearsals with the finale’ which will allow dancers to leave immediately following their last performance. For students that are in both shows: if their dance repeats in the 2nd show, they will not have a repeat rehearsal. If they have a different dance in the 2nd show, they WILL need to stay to rehearse it. Dancers in 2 or more dances will rehearse all of their dances in full costume (bring all shoes, tights, accessories etc.). The dress rehearsal is a huge undertaking and we cannot determine the exact time a dancer will rehearse or be free to leave. We understand this can be a LONG process for you and your dancer. Please plan accordingly, enjoy the other children’s performances, be patient and flexible as we prepare your dancer for a wonderful experience! Dress rehearsal is an exciting time for our students. For many, it’s the first time on stage and we thank you in advance for keeping the atmosphere fun! Most classes will run their dance only one time, but there will be starts and stops throughout rehearsal. We know that our students enjoy rehearsal more than parents, but it’s all about the kids on this special weekend! Food
and drink is NOT allowed in the auditorium at any time on Friday or Saturday for
any reason. All snacks must be
eaten in the hallway or lobby area. Premiere
Dance Company is held responsible for damages to the auditorium and band room
and will be enforcing this rule! Please
act responsibly and respect the rules of Premiere Dance Company and Homestead
High School. Recital:
Saturday, June 2, 2:00
p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Homestead High School.
Dancers arrive at 1:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. through door
#3. Guests enter through door
#4. Auditorium doors open at 1:30
for the 2:00 show and 5:30 for the 6:00 show.
No seats will be saved prior to the doors opening.
No seats will be saved between shows. Each show will last approximately 2
hours. Families are welcome to video tape and use flash photography but please
stay seated while doing so. DVD’s
of both shows will be available through Premiere Dance Company for $15.00.
DVD’s will be available for pick up in July. DVD orders are included with your ticket order. Please
check www.premieredancecompany.com
for DVD pick up in July. Team
work: All dancers are
to look the same as their classmates on stage.
Do not wear jewelry or nail polish.
Newly pierced ears can be covered with a small piece of bandage over the
earring. Underwear is not worn
under costumes. All dancers should
wear the instructed tights under their costumes.
Older dancers should test bras with their costumes.
You may need to purchase a bra
with clear straps, a strapless bra or a nude colored camisole/leotard.
Tights can be layered for quick changes with tan first and pink, white or
black over the tan. LABEL ALL ITEMS
and shoes! Please label every small
piece of your costume with masking tape or permanent marker in an inconspicuous
spot. Tied tap shoes for students
under 8 should have tan elastic or tap ties in place of ribbon ties.
White elastic can be colored with make-up foundation or tea.
Ballet shoes should have the drawstrings tied in a double knot and TUCKED

are not a decorative feature. Please
double knot jazz and tap shoe ties!! All
hair accessories including those that are tied around buns or ponytails, and
HATS must be bobby pinned securely in place! Band
Room: Dancers will be
backstage in the band room during the recital and will remain there in costume
until the finale’. They are
allowed to bring crayons, books, cards etc. to keep them occupied.
They can also bring a water bottle (no food, soda, juice or GUM!).
Each class of 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 year olds will have a parent volunteer
supervising them. Parent volunteers
in the band room will be in charge of crowd control.
There is to be NO running, yelling, climbing or touching
band equipment. Please instruct
your child prior to their time in the band room that they are to remain with
their class and behave respectfully. We
expect to leave the band room in the same condition it was when we arrived. Do
not leave trash behind! Dismissal:
Children in classes for
3-4, 5-7 and 6-8 year olds will be dismissed directly from the stage following
the recital. This is a great time
for photos and to present them with flowers.
All children in classes for 9-10 year olds and older will be dismissed
from the band room but are welcome to come back to the stage for pictures.
Flowers:
Individual carnations
will be sold at the ticket table before the shows. Dinner
Break: The break
between shows may only be one hour between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
Please be prepared with a quick dinner for dancers performing in both
shows.
Thank you to all of our students and parents for an amazing year in our
new location! After whirlwind
construction and the ongoing projects at Sycamore Pointe, we are now coasting
into the final dance production and the kids look great!
We look forward to the recital, which we hope will be a special moment to
cherish for years to come. Putting
on an event of this size requires over a year of planning with the staff of
Premiere Dance Co. and the support and cooperation from all of our great dancing
families. Therefore, we would like
to express our gratitude to you in advance for remaining patient on dress
rehearsal night and for spending the majority of your day with us during the
Saturday recitals. We appreciate the time and energy you put into planning your day with us
and realize you may be juggling several activities with other members of your
family all in one day. We know there are many events in Fort Wayne each weekend and we are happy
that you and your child have chosen to take part in our annual recital on June
2, 2007! We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we and the children do! Instructing assistants: Courtney Burton, Becca Fowler ______________________________________________________ Premiere

Make-up is used for all types of stage performances including show choir, drama and dance. It is a necessary part of performing under bright stage lighting. We stress to the children that make-up is used only to show their face from far away, not to alter their look. Hair
Coat hair with a large amount of strong holding gel. Pull hair into a high pony tail with a brush and fasten it with a black or brown pony tail holder. Smooth hair with a comb or natural bristle brush. Add more gel if needed and pin any short hair around the face, or at the nape of the neck with bobby pins or hair colored clips.
Twist pony tail or braid, then roll into bun shape and secure with bobby pins. If the pony tail is very short, use an artificial hair piece to add fullness to the bun. (hair piece scrunchies can be found for $3.00 at Walgreen’s)
Wrap a fine hair net several times around the bun and secure it with several bobby pins.
Hair spray the entire head and let it dry.
This style should stay in place
through travel, sitting and costume changes! The gel will have to be washed out
after the rehearsal in order to repeat the process for the recital.
Make-up (you may buy the least expensive make-up you can find)
Use
foundation on the entire face, blending it into the neck with a wet sponge. This
will add color to the skin and allow the eye-shadow and blush to adhere and stay
in place for a longer period of time. Use
light brown eye shadow on the entire lid. Add dark brown or burgundy shadow in
and above the crease and extend past the natural line of the eye. Use very light
tan or white under brow.
Black eye-liner should be applied to the entire upper lash line and past the eye in an upward motion. (Liquid water-proof eye-liner works best, however it may not be tolerated by everyone)
For dancers 8 years and older, eye-liner should also be applied under the lower lashes starting at the bottom (not the inside corner) and continuing in an almost straight line slightly past the eye.
Use
black mascara on upper and lower lashes. Blonde
children or those with very light eyebrows may need to use a light brown eyebrow
pencil so their eyebrows do not disappear under the stage lights. Use
pink (not peach) blush on cheeks. Apply liberally in an upward motion. Also add
a small amount of blush on the upper forehead at the hairline and around the
lower jaw. Line
the lips with a dark rose-pink or burgundy-red pencil and fill in with a
coordinating lipstick.
That’s it! You are ready for the stage! (children with sensitive skin or eyes can eliminate a step when necessary, but we hope most can wear a make-up made for sensitive skin)
Make-up
can be easily removed with cold cream or mild soap and water. Baby shampoo works
great around the eyes using a slightly dampened Q-tip! If you need to remove
make-up before going home, use baby wipes. The
stage lights will dramatically lighten everyone’s face and it is very
important to apply the make-up as stated and to use enough. The make-up should
look heavy, but not clown-like, up close. Bobby pins and hair clips will not be
noticeable from the audience, so please use enough to keep the hair in place.
Everyone must wear their assigned hair style and stage make-up at the dress
rehearsal. Dress rehearsal is the most important part of our preparation for the recital, please think of it as if it were the REAL show and be prepared. Don’t forget to bring all of your shoes and all the parts of your costume (head pieces, gloves, bows, ears, hats etc.) For those students that change tights, don’t forget the second pair! (Click here for a
printable version of the make-up instructions.)
